Worm cutters are the most common gear cutting tools used for rough and finish gear cutting. The module will allow you to calculate and build models of worm cutters for cutting:

  • cylindrical gears with an involute profile (roughing and finishing cutters),
  • cylindrical Novikov gears with two lines of engagement,
  • sprockets to drive roller and sleeve chains,
  • worm wheels of a cylindrical worm gear (roughing and finishing cutters),
  • splined shafts with involute profile,
  • splined shafts with a straight-sided profile.

The result of working in the application is a fully prepared drawing for the cutter (with detail elements and a table of parameters) and its 3D model.

The development of design documentation for standard cutters (according to domestic standards) and the design of cutters for gears and splined shafts (according to foreign standards) are envisaged. For wheels with an involute profile, cutters with a non-standard module or original contour are available.

Gear or spline data for a hobbing cutter is taken from the calculation modules or databases of the Shafts and Power Transmissions 3D application .

The gear-cutting part of the cutter is a full-fledged component of the application’s 2D model. This implementation allows you to create not only standard milling cutters for a cylindrical mandrel, but also to combine the gear-cutting part of the cutter with special shanks designed for certain gear hobbing machines.

Module Features:
