Equipment: Cables and bundles
A specialized application for KOMPAS-3D, designed to automate the process of three-dimensional modeling of electrical cables and bundles, as well as to issue design documentation for these products.
The application automatically creates:
Any source of 3D models can be used as a component database. These can be individual 3D model files, model libraries, and Standard Parts Library catalogs.
As a database of wires and cables, you can use both special text files as part of the application, and the Materials and Assortments Library.
The dimensions on the resulting drawings fully correspond to the dimensions of cables and bundles, measured along the axes of their three-dimensional models. The total length of conductors in the specification additionally takes into account all mounting and sagging allowances specified by the user at the stage of route formation. Users can add tables with pins, their corresponding signals, and lead wire labels to connector models. At the same time, data from blocks and devices about electrical communication addresses and signals are automatically transmitted to the cable parts of the bundles.
On the assembly drawing of the bundle or cable, the designer, if necessary, can place tables for soldering connectors.
The application is used in instrumentation for modeling connections between blocks and connectors in general, as well as in electrical engineering, where connections between individual contacts must be modeled.
The Cables and bundles application is integrated with the KOMPAS-Electric and E3 electrical equipment design systems in terms of importing the composition of electrical devices – the List of elements – in the form of an XML file.
